If you haven’t been able to figure it out by now, we here at FS Construction Services are big fans of preparedness and planning ahead. Obviously, there are times when circumstances don’t allow for this to happen, but in the world of agriculture, any time you can future proof something is a significant win, especially with bean grain storage.
FS Construction Services Bean Grain Storage
That’s why we love projects like this one. We began the build early enough in the season that our client was able to have a fully-functioning bean grain storage system by August, allowing for plenty of time to prepare for the coming harvest.
Nathan Koester and his team worked to construct a 48’ in diameter, 12-ring tall grain storage bin that has a capacity of 72,000 bushels. The bin features outside stairs for easy roof access, a paddle sweep for safe cleanout entry, a 10” unload, and two 15hp fans. Additionally, our team also built a 110’ Sukup leg tower. With this setup, our client is able to move 7,500 bushels per hour.
When it was all said and done, our client received a huge increase in capacity and the ability to effectively move that grain as needed. All of this, thankfully, was completed with enough time to learn the new system and test out the equipment, minimizing risk and ensuring fewer unknown factors by the time harvest rolled around.
We know that we are quickly headed towards the winter months, but we also know that it’s never too late to be prepared for the coming year.
