Here at FS Construction Services, two of the things we enjoy most in life are a functional building and a unique project. So you can imagine our delight when we had the opportunity to work on a building project that combines both of these things into one exciting construction, building a purposeful building on graded ground.
Building on Graded Gound
This building is 42’ x 80’ x 12’/18’. You may have noticed that slash there, and that’s because our client wanted this built on graded ground. Because of this, part of the building has been put on a foundation wall and the other part utilizes columns. By doing this, we were able to have a main structure that sits at 12’ tall, but as the ground slopes down, we were able to create a vertical span of 18’ at its tallest point. This way, our client can use that part of the building for taller equipment. Unconventional but effective.
As for the rest of the building, half of it is enclosed, while the other half is open. Our team installed four windows, an 8’ x 10’ single sliding door, an 8’ x 12’ single sliding door, and a standard 3068 door. The building is tan with forest green trim and also features gutters.
When it was all said and done, our team was able to work alongside our client to take a potential negative and turn it into a feature. Every project has its obstacles, some bigger than others, but with a little creativity and a lot of determination, those barriers can become benefits.
