Chuck Helm smiles for the camera while at a job site as he shared the highlights from 20 years of working with FS Construction Services

Employee Profile: Chuck’s Highlights of Working with FS Construction Services

Last month, we introduced Construction Foreman Chuck Helm. We are excited to continue to talk a little more about him this month. Chuck has spent 20 years working on our grain bin crews. So, we wanted to get his thoughts on the best parts of working with FS Construction Services.

Chuck’s Favorite Things About Working on Our Team

True to form, Chuck shot straight and kept it simple when asked about his experience working with FS Construction Services. But he also offered a lot of insight into many of the values that have been most important to us here.

One of the themes that came up over and over again was “communication”. Every project we do lives and dies by the success of the communication that happens around it and about it. That’s no different here.

Chuck began his highlight reel by praising the inside and outside crews he works closely with. He shared, “We work together well and know what needs to be done. It is a good team, and we can move at a good pace. Everybody knows their jobs.”

For Chuck, the satisfaction comes when successful prep work leads to a building site that’s ready to go. When this happens, unexpected roadblocks are quickly managed. This results in a completed structure that the client is pleased with.

Chuck also spoke of his positive experience working with FS Construction Services customers over the years.

He said, “[Our customers] have a lot of experience and know what they want and what their operation needs… they’re very well informed and also, they trust us. We interact with the farmer as much as they need, but for the most part, they know we are here to get their project done and done right for them.”

And that, for Chuck, is the part he seems to enjoy the most: getting the job done and getting it done well.

While he’s at it, Chuck throws in a little good-natured mentorship. When speaking about the largest bin he’s ever put up, which was 22 rings and 107’ tall, he laughed and said, “I’m not scared of heights, but I’ll let some of the younger guys work on those roofs.”
