Joe Dorn Retirement FS Construction Services

Employee Profile: Joe Dorn Retirement

Over the past couple months, we have been highlighting our friend and longtime employee Joe Dorn. Joe has been with us long enough, in fact, that in something of a bittersweet moment, it is time for us here at FS Construction Services to wish him well on his retirement.

Happy Retirement Joe Dorn!

Joe has been gracious enough to offer up his inventive mind, problem-solving skills, and long history of experience to us for the past two decades and while we will miss him greatly, we are excited for him to take this next step. And somehow we suspect that Joe’s commitment to learning and his penchant for problem-solving will follow him into retirement.

While there are many ways to measure the time Joe has been with us, we will use his own insight to explain what it’s been like. He remarked that pole barns and post frame buildings used to be much smaller. Even ten years ago, many building were 40’ x 100’, but now it’s common for them to run 80’ x 200’ or larger. Overhead doors went from being 16 ft. tall to 20 ft. tall. And, on the grain storage side of the business, bins have gone from 24’ ft. around to 48’ and even 56’.

Thankfully for us, Joe has never stopped adapting and figuring out the best way to get the job done. We are grateful for his dedication to our company, and most importantly, to the people we get to work with every day. And if there ever comes a day when buildings are 600’ and their doors weigh seven tons, we’d still pick Joe to help us get the job done every time.
