Last month we began another Employee Profile on carpenter Paul Joost, and while it seems like we just got started, we are also wishing Paul a happy and peaceful retirement this month. Like so many of our wonderful employees, Paul has always loved a good challenge, and over the years he has seen some of our more difficult jobs as interesting opportunities, not hindrances. When discussing what he has enjoyed about working for FS Construction Services, Paul said, “I also appreciate that our scheduling team does a great job with ensuring we have minimal downtime and maximum productivity.”
Wishing Paul Joost a Happy Retirement!
It is certainly hard to say goodbye to employee like that, and we are truly grateful for the past 14 years that we have had with Paul. His embrace of hard work and acceptance of challenges is an admirable and commendable quality. The bigger the project, the more complicated the build, the happier Paul has been working on it. “It takes more time, but it also means you might be on the same job site for two or three months in a row, which is kind of nice at times. Allows you to get into a routine.”
We know that Paul will carry this attitude into retirement, where we hope he gets to spend lots of time fishing and trap shooting. When asked what he’ll miss most about working here, he said, “I think the thing I’m going to miss the most is the people that I get to work with on a daily basis. I’ll truly miss them more than anything.”
We can say that the feeling is mutual. While we will always love being on the job and getting to build buildings and install new equipment, the core of what we do has always been about the people. And Paul has represented the best of that.
