Last month, we began a new Employee Profile series on Assistant Construction Foreman Damon Stapleton. We are excited to keep that going this month! In this blog, we learn about Damon’s dedication to teamwork and craftsmanship through the project process.
A Project Process that Contributes to Good Craftsmanship
We already learned that Damon carries a simple yet driving satisfaction in being able to just build something. But there is a big difference between helping your uncle around his house and constructing huge, complicated agricultural buildings.
One of the things we’ve heard from Damon – as well as from many others on our staff – is that communication between the inside and outside teams is paramount to a job’s success.
At the start of the project process, customers work with Sales Rep Austin Francis to develop a design that meets their exact needs. Engineered drawings are created that are, in Damon’s words, “Very accurate as to what the customer is expecting from the project.”
Most of the time, he says, no issues ever come up on the job site. Though he admits that if there is a challenge, it will probably come in the form of bad weather!
When asked about unique projects he’s worked on, Damon is quick to mention that all projects are great. However, we did get him to admit that high-end stables are “a little more unique.” This is because of all the interior work that goes into constructing the stalls, as well as the addition of iron gates and other necessary finishing work specific to those projects.
More than anything, Damon appreciates the simplicity of good craftsmanship. It doesn’t matter the size of the project or how impressive it sounds on paper!
