FS Construction Services Butler metal building

A Better, Faster Metal Building

Understandably, when it comes to major projects, like building a new structure from the ground up, clients want to know that corners haven’t been cut and concessions haven’t been made. At FS Construction Services, we understand the hesitation in believing in something that just sounds too good to be true. However, thanks to some very smart engineering and good planning, our partners at Butler Manufacturing have really pushed the envelope with their Tier II Classic Building System.

Build the Best with a Butler Metal Building

This metal building system isn’t just fast, but it also offers wide-ranging customizability and flexibility, allowing it to serve every function from warehouse to agricultural storage to commercial space and pretty much any other option in between. These building can be built to almost any size and scope, with a variety of structure, roof, and wall systems, as well as options for skirt walls, below-eave canopies, and adjacent units. Additionally, there is an option for pre-insulated metal panels, increasing the thermal efficiency of your building.

Of course, one of the most unique features of these buildings is just how fast they can go from idea to standing structure. Butler has worked to ensure short lead times, but more than that, all of their structures come with factory-punched roof and wall panels designed to fit together in any number of configurations. This allows for an assembly that’s 30% faster than a traditional new construction.

Our partnership with Butler has been long lasting and valuable, meaning our team knows their way around a Butler building. If you are in need of a new building, and even if you need it fast,
please let Gateway FS Construction Services know. Give us a call at 866-551-3454, and let our specialists help you find exactly what you are looking for. We look forward to providing you the best customer service experience.

Project Profile: The Little Details Make a Building Unique

At FS Construction Services, we have constructed our fair share of buildings over the years. From every shape and size to a whole host of different functions and purposes, we have had the opportunity to see just how much variety you can get in a wood or steel building. In many cases though, what really sets a structure apart are all the extra details. Whether it’s huge, sliding doors, an insulated living space, or stalls for horses, the variety of additions here and there are what really make a building, the building.

Metal Building for Storage and Maintenance

Recently, we had the chance to build a new structure with enough extra features to set it apart from the other buildings like it. This 42’ x 80’ x 16’ drive-through facility was built on a concrete slab to be used for storage and maintenance. We lined the building with R42 ceiling insulation and R19 wall insulation to increase the building’s thermal efficiency and help keep it warmer during the cold months. Along one side of the building we installed 10 7’ x 2’ fixed glass windows to provide the interior with plenty of natural light. On each side of the building is a 14’ x 14’ Raynor garage door featuring windows and exhaust ports.

The structure uses 5” x 6” standard columns and laminated columns that have been staggered for strength. Along the exterior, we have installed sectional gutters with 4” x 3” down spouts to drive water away from the building and slab.

While this particular project may not have had anything completely out of the ordinary, it featured just enough of the little kinds of extras and details to make it the exact building our client wanted. If you are looking for your own custom steel or wood building, please let Gateway FS Construction Services know. Give us a call at 866-551-3454, and let our specialists help you find exactly what you are looking for. We look forward to providing you the best customer service experience.

FS Construction Services steel buildings

There’s No Match for Steel

Over the years at FS Construction Services we have built many, many buildings for many, many different purposes. In that time, we have found out over and over that it is hard to beat the strength and versatility of a steel building. In short, there’s no match for steel.

The Benefits of a Steel Building

Obviously one of the clearest benefits of a steel building is the strength and durability it provides. Because of that strength, steel buildings are able to offer huge, clear spans up to 200’. Of course, if cost is a bigger factor than uninterrupted space, multi-span structures are a simple way to reduce cost.

Beyond just strength, steel is rot and pest resistant, meaning you won’t have to worry about weathering and degradation. Additionally, the steel structures we build feature pre-punched purlins, girts, and eaves, allowing for a kind of precision and consistency of build that is reliable and repeatable.

If you are in a spot where you’re considering a steel building, our team of experts will work with you on finding the best type of the building, size, and more, to get you exactly what you need. Our job is to listen first and then determine how we can make your dream building come true. From agricultural to residential to commercial and everything in between, we have built pretty much every kind of structure imaginable over the years. Our partners at Sukup Manufacturing and Butler Manufacturing offer some of the highest-quality, most customizable buildings on the market, and we are proud to partner with the best.

If you have a building in mind but aren’t sure whether you want wood or steel for the job then we’ll be happy to help you figure it out. Have any questions about your next building project? Let Gateway FS Construction Services answer your questions. Simply give us a call at 866-551-3454! We look forward to providing you the best customer service experience.

FS Construction Services update painting services

Six Signs It’s Time to Update That Old Paint

For many people, painting is like a trip to the dentist. You know it needs to be done, you know it will be good for you in the long run, and yet you just don’t really feel like doing it. Some paint jobs have the added complexity of hard-to-reach places, lots of surface area to cover, or simply too much time negotiating a ladder. And yet despite all the work, eventually, it will need to be done. Because it’s a task that can require a lot of up-front effort, it’s one of those things that’s easy to put on hold, but holding out too long can cause long-term trouble. So we thought we would point out some signs that it’s time to finally update that old paint.

  1. Dry rot. Dry rot is caused by fungi that essentially eat away at wood, causing a loss in durability and strength. There are many types of protective paint that can be applied to protect your exterior wood to prevent this from happening.
  2. Cracking or breaking. When cracking or breaking of the base material is visible at the bottom of a structure, apart from being a sign of some other issues, it’s also a sign that it’s time to apply some new paint.
  3. Chipping or peeling. This one’s pretty obvious, but chipped or peeling paint is no good. Especially when it comes to outdoor structures, the more paint that chips away, the more exposed the material is to weathering and degradation.
  4. Color fading. It’s easy to forget just what color something used to be until you see it compared to its old self. Sunlight and a well-defined four seasons will slowly dull the color of your paint over time.
  5. Cracked or dried caulk. High-quality caulking is made to last ten years. If the caulking around doors and windows is starting to crack, dry, or peel, it could be a sign it’s time to also revisit the paint as well.
  6. If you have no idea when your structure was last painted, then it might be time to give it some fresh paint.

If you have an overdue paint job and don’t have the time, equipment, or desire to tackle it yourself, please let Gateway FS Construction Services know. You can give us a call at 866-551-3454, and let our specialists help you find exactly what you are looking for. We look forward to providing you the best customer service experience.

2 Keys To A Paint Project That Stands The Test Of Time

Paint is a funny thing. When it’s done well, it’s one of the easiest things in the world to ignore. But when it’s done poorly, or when it’s in need of some serious updating, it makes even the nicest buildings look unsightly, old, and ugly. We know how tempting it can be to want to finish a paint job quickly, which can lead to improper prep work and ultimately, shortened paint longevity.

Our paint team at FS Construction Services understands exactly what a good paint job can do, which is why we take great pride in making sure every paint project we complete is handled with the greatest care and attention to detail. The first key to a paint project that stands the test of time is ensuring prep work is done properly. Our prep work involves scraping existing paint, power washing, using a cleaner like TSP or chalk remover, and applying a primer. We’ve always believed that primer is the key, not only providing adhesion for the top coat, but providing overall protection for your building.

We know how easy a great paint job is to overlook. We also know just how much of a difference it can make when it’s done well, especially in ways that can’t be seen. This leads us to the second key factor to ensuring your paint project looks great for years to come, a team of experienced professionals with a dedication to detail and quality. Over the past year, our paint team has been hard at work on the 60+ projects. From sheds to grain bins to roofs to trim to entire homes and buildings, we have had great support and feedback from the communities we serve. We appreciate your trust and know none of this happens without you.

Brian “Boomer” Garleb and the team of paint professionals are thankful to all of you who have trusted your special projects to our team over the years. 2018 was a great year and are looking forward to the many opportunities and challenges 2019 will bring.

So, if you have outdoor structures that could use a touch up, whether they are residential, commercial, or agricultural, please let Gateway FS Construction Services know. Give us a call at 866-551-3454, and let our specialists provide you with a free estimate and help you achieve the fresh new look your project deserves. We look forward to providing you the best customer service experience.

USC Tri Flo Continuous Scale seed treating Gateway FS Construction Services

Project Profile: A Fully-Integrated Tri-Flow Scale

At FS Construction Services, we have the benefit of working with a number of great partners who manufacture trustworthy, state-of-the-art equipment and material. But a successfully-completed job means much more to us than simply providing the raw material. We want to give each of clients the tools necessary to use that material to its greatest potential, ensuring they always get their money’s worth.

Over a couple of weeks this year, our Seed Treating Solutions Specialists installed a brand-new USC Tri-Flo Continuous Scale for a client. Thanks to its continuous flow mechanism, this new system significantly reduces the amount of time it takes to treat seed from bulk bins because it doesn’t have to wait for an entire weight of seed to enter the batch hopper.

However, because we wanted to make sure that our client was comfortable with the brand-new equipment, we provided extensive training and support after installation. Our team even designed a system that integrated three different automation packages from two different manufacturers to ensure our client would always have a fast, accurate treating system.

With the constant changing and updating of technology, it’s important to us that we give our clients the tools necessary to get the most from their equipment. From the beginning of an idea to the end of its implementation, we want our customers to not only have the best possible experience, but to be fully equipped to succeed in their endeavors.

If you are in the market for seed treating equipment, or you have questions about how to use, upgrade, or interface with your equipment, you can let Gateway FS Construction Services know. You can give us a call at 866-551-3454, and let our specialists help you find exactly what you are looking for. We look forward to providing you the best customer service experience.

Grain storage large bushels

Project Profile: From 0 to 40,000 Bushel Capacity in a Week

At FS Construction Services we know that among the many things a bountiful harvest can bring is the need for more storage space. This was the case recently, with harvest right around the corner, when we were contracted to build a new storage bin. Luckily our team was up to the task, and in exactly one week’s time, our client was up and running with a brand-new grain storage solution.

Nathan Koester, one of our Grain Systems expert, oversaw the construction of the Sukup grain bin. At 42’ in diameter and 9 rings tall, this new structure would provide instant help for the harvest to come with a capacity of 40,000 bushels. Additionally, the grain bin was outfitted with a roof auger, stairs, and an 8” power sweep.

With our team in and out in a week, our client was able to continue preparing for the season to come with the assurance of having all the storage that would be needed. Thanks to our long-lasting partnership with Sukup and our familiarity with their products and equipment, we are able to work quickly and efficiently. This not only guarantees properly set up grain bins and systems, but it also means our clients can get back to their work sooner.

If you are looking to get a jump on the season to come or are in the market for grain drying, grain storage, or grain handling and transfer, let Gateway FS Construction Services know.
