Huge Machine Storage Solution

When you’re a farmer, protecting your equipment through any season is a must. An effective machine storage solution keeps these vital tools safe, no matter the weather.

Last September, one client came to us with a need for a brand-new building in time for harvest and the winter months.

Within the month, our construction crew was able to provide a 60’ x 108’ x 16’ machine storage building!

Effective Machine Storage for All Seasons

This huge machine storage solution is three-sided. An open front allows large equipment to move in and out without issue while still protecting it from the elements.

The front of the structure has center-spaced columns 27’ feet apart. It also features additional cross-bracing to help stabilize the structure’s huge open sidewall. To improve the durability of the building and further protect the expensive machinery stored inside, gutters, downspouts, and Dripstop technology were added to prevent condensation buildup.

All of these features add up to ensure that this client’s critical equipment is well-protected. The building will hold up during spring rains, summer heat, and winter cold, while still allowing for easy access during planting and harvest.

And our team was able to work together to get it all done quickly and efficiently, without sacrificing quality!

While the purpose of this project was straightforward, we wanted to make sure this client’s new machine storage building would keep their equipment safe and secure for years to come.

The 60’ W x 90’ L x 16’ H structure features clear spans, a 30’ W x 16’ H double sliding door, and windows running the length of the north sidewall eaves for natural lighting.

A new Butlerib II metal roof on a large steel structure will lengthen the life of the building

A Butlerib II Roof for Longevity & Strength

A recent client of ours realized it was time to extend the life of their steel building with a Butlerib II metal roof and a few additional upgrades.

The largest piece of the project was re-roofing the entire 60’ x 120’ structure with a Butlerib II metal roof.  The Butlerib II is one of the strongest roof systems in the industry. It offers 1 ½” corrugation, factory-slotted holes that allow roof panels to expand and contract as needed with changes in weather, full side-lap corrugation for extra support, a UL Class 90 wind uplift rating, and more.

Our team also removed and replaced some of the building’s sidewall material and replaced the gutters with 7” box gutters and 4×5 downspouts, all to further strengthen and improve the structure.

The result is a building that went from living on borrowed time to having all the time in the world!

For a recent unique project, we focused on what the client was looking for and delivered a finished product that perfectly matched their machine storage needs.

Meeting Machine Storage Needs

The finished metal storage building was a 12’ x 32’ x 7’ lean-to. It was built on a concrete wall to connect to and match an existing structure.

In place of a standard door, the client requested an open endwall to allow for easy tractor storage. We also installed Dripstop on the roof panels to prevent moisture buildup and condensation.

When you think grain storage, you might think about the tall shaft or storage bins of a grain elevator. But there are other important pieces to the puzzle, including a well-constructed feed storage building.

New Roofing and Siding for a Feed Storage Building

Our team recently worked with a client in Red Bud to outfit the 40’ x 63’ storage building and attached 14’ x 56’ lean-to at their grain elevator with a brand-new steel roof and siding.

The roofing and siding are rated high for wind uplift, snow load, hail, and fire resistance, helping to protect the variety of products, trailers, pallets, and more that are stored in the building.

These improvements were completed just in time for harvest, and the durable building is sure to last our client for years to come. Read more on our blog.

This time-saving grain system project provided our client with a great opportunity to become more efficient and save money this harvest.

We installed a 7,500 bushel per hour receiving pit and a 12” double run to transfer that grain to a wet tank, allowing the client to quickly dump their yield and get back out to harvesting in no time. Read more about it on the blog.

When working with our clients to create efficient grain storage solutions, we are sure to keep cost in mind.

Nathan Koester and his team recently paired cost savings with innovation to produce a grain storage solution that will stand the test of time, while staying within budget.

Cost-Effective & Efficient Grain Storage Solution

This project included a 30-foot-diameter, 7-ring tall grain storage bin with a capacity of 16,300 bushels. To provide additional protection against pests and water, thus increasing efficiency and longevity, the bin was built on a taller foundation.

The team then installed a horizontal unload that provides easier access and maintenance. As a cost-effective alternative to stairs, they used an exterior ladder, adding a cage to maintain a degree of safety. And they installed an Axial fan for aeration, using a hanging kit to keep it secure and protected.

These individual decisions and hacks came together to equal a cost-effective and efficient grain storage solution that is likely to last a bit longer and go a bit further.

For the client, this means additional budget for other needs around the farm.

But they still have peace of mind. They know their hard-earned yields will be protected by a grain storage solution created just for them.

Functional Multi-Level Building

Last year, we took on a unique project that brought grading complications and the opportunity to be truly creative through the creation of a functional multi-level building.

Large, Multi-Level Building Project with Ample Storage

Built to be a truly functional multi-level building, the overall floor plan of the structure is 36’ x 64’ x 19’. The interior features a 32’ x 36’ x 8’ lofted area with stairs, plus 32’ x 36’ x 19’ of open space to store large equipment. This structure was installed with Dripstop technology to prevent condensation buildup and a large laminated header offers load support under the loft.

Because the building was built onto an uneven grade, the west wall sits on a 10” thick x 56’ long retaining wall of concrete. The retaining wall and the concrete floor have a 10” x 36” footing along the perimeter to support the building. Additionally, the 5” thick concrete floor is reinforced with wire mesh. Overall, approximately 80 tons of concrete were used on the project.

The multi-level building also features several garage doors, each thoughtfully selected for their functionality and efficiency.

Intricate Grain Storage System

We recently took on the task of constructing and connecting multiple pieces of storage and transfer equipment to ensure our client had a smooth, dependable grain setup.

How the Intricate Grain Storage System Works

This intricate grain storage system involved a 30 foot in diameter, 12-ring tall grain bin to act as a surge tank for greater speed and efficiency. It also included a 100-foot 10” Sukup double run to fill the surge tank and a 60-foot double run to get the wet grain over to the drying bin. Additionally, a receiving pit system with a capacity of 650 bushels was installed for quick unloading.

Hopper Helps Provide Efficient Grain Storage

We provided a recent client with a new surge tank to increase the speed and efficiency of their drying system. This involved installing a 24’ diameter, 7-ring tall hopper tank and four inline centrifugal fans to improve aeration.
